Worldwide financial planning have been recognised internationally for their commitment to Environmental and Sustainable investments.
Peter McGahan, CEO from Truro-based Worldwide Financial Planning, was been named number three of social media influencers globally for highlighting investments with a social conscience alongside Environment and good governance.
In the latest research by global media analytics experts Commetric, Peter was listed alongside best-selling author American Nancy Levine, Professors Serafeim, Loannou and Robins from Harvard, London business school and school of Economics for driving the debate about environmental, social, and corporate governance (ESG) investing online.
Commetric is an international company which provides media analytics solutions that help communication and marketing professionals monitor and analyse conversations and content on social and conventional media.
Its latest research assigned an influencer score to the top fifteen people across the world who are "filling the whitespace" to promote ESG investments as we face up to the challenges of climate change and the social-awakening of society.
"Our latest media research shows that ESG has been a focus for news outlets more than it has been for social media users," said Commetric. "There is still a lot of whitespace on social, which brands can use to drive the debate. One way to do this is to engage the key opinion leaders in the ESG debate."
Peter, CEO, with 33 years of experience, has long been an advocate of ESG investments, as often evidenced in his weekly columns.
In one recent column he wrote: "Environment, social and governance are the three pillars responsible businesses are aspiring to, under which they are moving towards a fairer society, which takes care of the Earth - our home - in the process."
Peter, who uses his Twitter page @peter_mcgahan to share his ESG beliefs to his 19,000 followers and the wider world, said he was humbled by the recognition but it only helped to reinforce his commitment to doing the right thing.
I am absolutely delighted and grateful to be ranked third ESG influencer for driving the debate and opinions on environment, social and governance," said Peter, who in addition to his role as CEO has hosted numerous funding-raising events for NHS workers and other good causes. "By measuring the sustainability and societal impact of an investment in a company or business we can all make decisions knowing that we are trying to improve the health and welfare of each other.
"Investment is about making your money work for you but also about its social impact, which is why I am passionate about ESG and the benefits it brings to us all."
Commetric recognition comes as no surprise to Anne Vandermeulen, development manager of The Federation of Small Businesses Cornwall.
She said: “This is a well deserved recognition for Peter. I’ve known him professionally for a long time and I’ve always been so impressed with his altruistic work with local communities and good causes.”
