This week pretty much sums up the year; a lot of noise and drama and we've ended up back where we started.

The challenge to Theresa May dominated the airways for two days, but despite seeing off the challenge, nothing about Brexit has fundamentally changed.

Many years ago, a colleague who was a doctor of Biochemistry said of financial news and information. “It’s all noisy data – we just have to see through the noise”.

This week we return to two old favourites, Brexit and Trump.

The Brexit deal is currently being debated in parliament, with a final vote on whether to take it scheduled for the 11th.

Whilst fear of losing out or apathy are two key psychological components on how not to make the most of your money, there are others.

This week the most notable headline came from Jerome Powell, the Chair of the US Federal Reserve, when he announced that he thought interest rates were "just below neutral".

For the UK stock market, Brexit has been a bonus. Most earnings in the FTSE100 are from overseas and when concerted back into a weakened sterling provide a very healthy uplift to prices.
